In 1953 werd het 39ste Campeonato Mineiro gespeeld voor voetbalclubs uit de Braziliaanse staat Minas Gerais. De competitie werd gespeeld van 19 april tot 8 december en werd georganiseerd door de Federação Mineira de Futebol. Er werden twee toernooien gespeeld, de winnaars van beide toernooien speelden de finale. Atlético werd kampioen.
