Waitangi (/waɪˈtæŋi/[1] or /ˈwaɪtæŋi/, Templat:IPA-mi) adalah tempat di Pulau Kepulauan di Pulau Utara dari New Zealand. Ia terletak berhampiran dengan bandar Paihia (yang mana ia dianggap sebahagian daripadanya), 60 kilometer di utara Whangarei. Nama itu bermaksud air yang menangis dalam bahasa Māori.

Waitangi dikenali sebagai lokasi di mana Perjanjian Waitangi pertama kali ditandatangani pada 6 Februari 1840. Ia juga merupakan tempat di mana Deklarasi Kemerdekaan New Zealand ditandatangani lima tahun sebelumnya, pada 28 Oktober 1835. Dokumen ini telah disahkan oleh Mahkota British pada tahun berikutnya (1836).
Perjanjian Treaty of Waitangi bermula pada 5 Februari 1840 apabila mesyuarat awam diadakan di halaman hadapan kediaman James Busby. Gabernor Leftenan Hobson membaca dokumen yang dicadangkan kepada 300 atau lebih orang Eropah dan Māori yang hadir dan kemudian memberi ketua Māori peluang untuk bercakap. Pada mulanya, sebilangan besar ketua (termasuk Te Kemara, Rewa dan Moka Te Kainga-mataa) bercakap terhadap menerima cadangan Mahkota untuk memerintah Aotearoa.[2] Kemudian dalam prosiding beberapa orang ketua mula melayan idea itu; antara ketua-ketua yang lebih penting yang menyokong Mahkota ialah Te Wharerahi, Pumuka, dan dua orang ketua Hokianga, Tāmati Wāka Nene dan adiknya Eruera Maihi Patuone.[2] Prosiding itu berakhir dan bermula semula pada 7 Februari; Walau bagaimanapun, beberapa ketua dipaksa untuk menandatanganinya lebih awal. Perjanjian Waitangi pada mulanya ditandatangani pada 6 Februari 1840 di sebuah perkarangan yang didirikan di lapangan James Busby di Waitangi oleh wakil-wakil dari Mahkota British, ketua Konfederasi dari United Tribes of New Zealand, dan pemimpin puak Māori yang lain, dan seterusnya oleh ketua-ketua Māori lain di tempat lain di New Zealand. Pemeriksaan yang saksama dari dokumen Perjanjian itu sendiri tidak menunjukkan bukti tandatangan atau 'tanda' bersebelahan dengan nama Moka (yang ditulis sebagai 'Te Tohu o Moka'). Kerehona mengulas dengan menyedari bahawa ia jelas dengan akaun Colenso (1890)[2] yang bukan sahaja Moka jelas menyatakan kebimbangannya mengenai kesan Perjanjian sewaktu mesyuarat pada 5 Februari itu, tetapi perbincangan itu bahawa dia bersama dengan Reverend Charles Baker, digabungkan dengan komen akhir Moka, harus diambil kira.
Pengenalan Perjanjian dengan berkesannya membatalkan Deklarasi Kemerdekaan, menjadikan New Zealand sebuah tanah jajahan British, dan Perjanjian ini dianggap sebagai dokumen penubuhan New Zealand sebagai sebuah negara. Hari Waitangi adalah perayaan tahunan upacara tandatangan itu, dan cuti kebangsaan New Zealand.
Apa yang kini dikenali sebagai 'Rumah Perjanjian' pertama kali diduduki oleh James Busby, yang bertindak sebagai penduduk British di New Zealand dari tahun 1832 hingga ketibaan William Hobson, dan isterinya Agnes Busby. Sebagai persiapan untuk Ulang Tahun Keseratus New Zealand pada tahun 1940, Rumah Perjanjian telah dipulihkan pada tahun 1930-an, dan rumah mesyuarat Māori dibina di sampingnya, mencetuskan kemunculan pertama Perjanjian ke dalam perhatian Pākehā sejak abad ke-19.
