2005 നവംബർ 6-നാണ് ന്യേപിഡോ മ്യാന്മറിന്റെ തലസ്ഥാനമായത്. അതുവരെ യാങ്കോൺ (റങ്കൂൺ) ആയിരുന്നു തലസ്ഥാനം. 2008-ലെ ഭരണഘടനയനുസരിച്ച് നേപ്യിഡോ കേന്ദ്രഭരണപ്രദേശം എന്ന പേരിലാണ് ഈ സ്ഥലത്തിന്റെ ഭരണം.
