മലയാള മനോരമ പത്രത്തിൻെ പത്രാധിപനായിരുന്ന കെ.എം മാത്യുവിൻറെ ആത്മകഥയാണ് എട്ടാമത്തെ മോതിരം.[1][2][3][4] 2008ലാണ് പ്രസ്തുത പുസ്തകം പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയത്. തൻറെ മാതാവിനാണ് മാത്യും ഈ പുസ്തകം സമർപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത്. ഒന്പത് മക്കൾക്കും തൻറെ ആഭരണങ്ങൾ മോതിരമാക്കിയ മാറ്റിയ ശേഷം വീതം ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. എട്ടാമത്തെ കുട്ടിയായതിനാൽ കെ.എം മാത്യുവിന് കിട്ടിയതാവട്ടെ എട്ടാമത്തെ മോതിരവും. ആയതിനാലാണ് ഈ പുസ്തകത്തിന് ഈ പേര് നൽകിയത്.
