ജോസഫ് ഡാൾട്ടൺ ഹൂക്കർ

ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാരനായ ഒരു സസ്യശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനും പര്യവേഷകനും ആയിരുന്നു സർ ജോസഫ് ഡാൾട്ടൺ ഹൂക്കർ (Sir Joseph Dalton Hooker) OM GCSI CB PRS (30 ജൂൺ 1817 – 10 ഡിസംബർ 1911). ജ്യോഗ്രഫിക്കൽ ബോട്ടണിയുടെ ഉപജ്ഞാതാവായ ഇദ്ദേഹം ചാൾസ് ഡാർവിന്റെ ഏറ്റവും അടുത്ത സുഹൃത്തുമായിരുന്നു. തന്റെ പിതാവായ വില്യം ജാക്‌സൺ ഹൂക്കറിനെത്തുടർന്ന് റോയൽ ബൊട്ടാണിക്കൽ ഗാർഡന്റെ ഡയറക്ടർ ആയ ഇദ്ദേഹം ആ സ്ഥാനത്ത് ഇരുപത് വർഷം സേവനം അനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു. ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് ശാസ്ത്രരംഗത്തെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ പുരസ്കാരങ്ങൾ ഇദ്ദേഹം സ്വന്തമാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.^[1][2]
