തായ്‌ലന്റിലെ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം പ്രീസ്കൂൾ മുതൽ സീനിയർ ഹൈസ്കൂൾ വരെ പൊതൂടമയിലാണ് നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നത്. സർക്കാർ ആണ് അവിടത്തെ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ ചുമതല വഹിക്കുന്നത്. 12 വർഷത്തേയ്ക്കുള്ള അടിസ്ഥാനവിദ്യാഭ്യാസം സൗജന്യമായി കുട്ടികൾക്ക് ഭരണഘടന അനുവദിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. കുറഞ്ഞത് 9 വർഷത്തെ ഹാജർ തായ്‌ലന്റിലെ സ്കൂളുകളിൽ നിർബന്ധിതമാണ്. 2009ൽ 15 വർഷത്തേയ്ക്കു വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം സൗജന്യവും നിർബന്ധിതവുമായി നിയമം പാസ്സാക്കി. ഇത്ര നീണ്ട കാലഘട്ടത്തേയ്ക്കു വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം സൗജന്യമായി നിർബന്ധിതമായി നൽകുന്ന മറ്റൊരു രാജ്യമില്ല. പ്രാഥമിക വിദ്യാഭ്യാസവും സെക്കന്ററി വിദ്യാഭ്യാസവും കുറഞ്ഞത് 12 വർഷത്തേയ്ക്കാണ് നിർബന്ധിതമായിരിക്കുന്നത്. അടിസ്ഥാനവിദ്യാഭ്യാസം 6 വർഷം പ്രാഥമിക വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം, 6 വർഷം സെക്കന്ററി വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം എന്നിങ്ങനെ രണ്ടായി തിരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. സെക്കന്ററി വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം ലോവർ അപ്പർ എന്നും തരം തിരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. കിൻഡർ ഗാർട്ടൻ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസവും അടിസ്ഥാനവിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമാണ് അത് 2-3 വർഷം നീണ്ടുനിൽക്കും. സർക്കാർ അനൗപചാരികവിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തെയും സഹായിക്കുന്നു. പൊതുവിദ്യാഭ്യാസ സംവിധാനത്തിൽ സ്വതന്ത്രമായ അനേകം സ്കൂളുകളുണ്ട്.
