Times New Roman ir serif burtveidolu grupa, ko 1931. gadā ieviesa Apvienotās Karalistes laikraksts The Times. To izveidoja uzņēmuma Monotype dizainers Viktors Lardents.
Times New Roman tika ieviests pēc Stenlija Morisona raksta, kurā viņš kritizēja The Times par nekvalitatīvu druku un tipogrāfisku antīkumu. Burtveidolu Morisona pārraudzībā izveidoja The Times reklāmas nodaļas mākslinieks Viktors Lardents. Par pamatu tam tika izmantots 1913. gadā izveidotais burtveidols Plantin. Tam tika uzlabota lasāmība un vietas ekonomija. Jauno burtveidolu nodēvēja par Times New Roman, un pirmoreiz to izmantoja The Times 1932. gada 3. oktobra laikrakstā. Pēc gada burtveidolu izlaida komerciālā pārdošanā. The Times burtveidolu Times New Roman izmantoja 40 gadus, bet kopš 1972. gada ražošanas tehnoloģijas un formāta maiņu dēļ laikraksts mainījis burtveidolu piecas reizes, lai gan visi jaunie burtveidoli veidoti uz oriģinālā New Roman bāzes.
Vārds Roman burtveidola nosaukumā nozīmē "romiešu", jo viduslaikos taisnu burtveidolu sauca par romiešu, bet slīpu — par itāliešu (Italic).
