"Rīga Plaza" īpašnieki ir Igaunijas investīciju uzņēmums Summus Capital un Ivars Vendelins.[1] Centra pārvaldīšanu veic nekustamo īpašumu pakalpojumu uzņēmums Colliers.[2]
Centra celtniecība sākās 2007. gadā, to atklāja 2009. gadā.
2010. gada vasarā "Rīga Plaza" tika atklāts kinoteātris "Multikino" ar 8 auditorijām 1524 cilvēkiem. Tas piederēja Polijas uzņēmumam Multikino S.A.[3]
2016. gadā tirdzniecības centrs par 93,4 miljoniem eiro tika pārdots uzņēmumam CPB Real Estate Services.[4]
Neilgi pirms 2016. gada Ziemassvētkiem tehnisku iemeslu dēļ pašvaldības policijas pavadībā no centra tika evakuēti visi cilvēki, un daļa no tā bija uz laiku slēgta.[5] Tajā brīdī daži no Prisma veikaliem Rīgā arī bija uz laiku slēgti.
2017. gada 3. maijā Somijas koncerns S-ryhmä, paziņoja, ka pamet Latvijas un arī Lietuvas tirgu, tātad arī slēdzot Prisma lielveikalu "Rīga Plaza". Neilgi pēc tam tirdzniecības centrs paziņoja, ka tas ir vienojies ar SIA "Maxima Latvija", ka 2018. gada pavasarī centrā tiks atklāts jauns Maxima XXX veikals.[6] To atklāja 2018. gada 7. jūnijā.[7]
2020. gada 7. maijā Multikino Latvia paziņoja, ka pārtrauc darbību Latvijā.[3] 14. maijā Igaunijas uzņēmuma Apollo Group meitas uzņēmums Apollo Kino paziņoja, ka 2020. gada rudenī atvērs savu otro kinoteātri Rīgā — tirdzniecības centrā "Rīga Plaza".[8]
2020. gada 2. decembrī tika paziņots, ka "Rīga Plaza" ir pārdots Igaunijas investīciju uzņēmumam Summus Capital un Ivaram Vendelinam.[1] 2021. gada aprīlī centra pārvaldīšanu pārņēma nekustamo īpašumu pakalpojumu uzņēmums Colliers.[2]
