Edinburgum[1][2] seu Edimburgum[3][4] seu Alata castra[5][6] (Anglice Edinburgh) est urbs capitalis Scotiae et una ex eius triginta duabus regionibus conciliaribus reipublicae dicatis. Quae, in Lothian per meridianum Firth of Forth litus sita, secunda a maxima urbs Scotica ad numerum incolarum pertinens ac septima a maxima in Britanniarum Regno est. Urbs vetus ab Unitarum Nationum educationis scientiae culturae ordine inter patrimonia totius mundi enumerata est.

Primum de Edinburgo saeculo XII scriptum est, cum scilicet anno 1124 Rex David I terras "Ecclesiae Sanctae Crucis Edwinesburgensi" cessit.
Edinburgum optimam oeconomiam totius Scotiae habet, exigua ratione inopiae laboris, permultis ab externis civitatibus et nationibus immigrantibus.
Edinburgum hodie duas greges pedilusorum habet: Hibernian et Heart of Midlothian. Ambo in Scottish Premier League contendunt.
