Archimandrita (Graece ἀρχιμανδρίτης, e lingua Graeca μάνδρα (claustrum) et ἄρχειν (regere)) est verbum a saeculo 5 in ecclesiis orientalibus usum abbatem significans. Medio Aevo etiam omnes superiores ecclesiasticos significavit.
