Sporades (-um, f.) (Graece: Σποράδες, i.e. "Insulae Dispersae") antiquitus appellabantur insulae omnes Maris Aegaei circa Cyclades sitae. Hodie dividuntur in Sporades Septentrionales vel Magnetides Insulas, ab Euboea ad Borean spectantes (inter quas sunt Peparethos, Sciathos, Icos et Scyros), et Sporades Meridianas vel Dodecanesi insulas, ab Asiae Minoris litoribus ad Africum versas (quarum vel maximae sunt Rhodos et Cos).
