개발자 원천 증명(Developer Certificate of Origin, DCO)은 2004년 리눅스 재단이[1] SCO-리눅스 분쟁 이후 리눅스 커널에 쓰이는 소프트웨어용 제출 과정을 강화하기 위해 도입된 것이다.[2]
DCO는 기여자 라이선스 동의(CLA)의 대안으로 종종 사용된다. 서명된 법적 계약인 DCO는 제출되는 소스 코드가 개발자로부터 기원하였다든지 개발자가 소스를 제출할 권한이 있음을 확증하는 것이다. DCO를 지지하는 사람들은 CLA에 의해 도입된 진입 장벽을 줄여준다고 주장한다.[1]
