იმპროვიზაცია (ლათ. improvisus „მოულოდნელი, უეცარი“)
იმპროვიზაცია განთქმულია ლიტერატურასა (ხშირად პოეზია) და მუსიკაში. კლასიკურ მუსიკაში იმპროვიზაციის ნიჭით დაჯილდოებულები ბევრნი იყვნენ: ვოლფგანგ ამადეუს მოცარტი, ლუდვიგ ვან ბეთჰოვენი, იოჰან სებასტიან ბახი. ფრედერიკ შოპენი და სხვები.
XX საუკუნეში იმპროვიზაციამ კიდევ უფრო გაითქვა სახელი ჯაზის წყალობით. ჯაზი მეტწილად იმპროვიზაციას ეყრდნობა.
