Wessex Formation

エオティラヌス（学名:Eotyrannus）は、ティラノサウルス上科に属する絶滅した獣脚類の恐竜の属。白亜紀前期にあたるイギリスのワイト島の南西の海岸に位置する Wealden 層群 Wessex 層から化石が発見されている。植物の堆積した粘土単層から発見された幼体から亜成体までの標本 MIWG1997.550

適応しており、地上性肉食動物より先に死体を見つけるのに役立った。イスティオダクティルスはWessex累層 (Wessex Formation) とそれより新しいVectis累層 (Vectis Formation) から発見されているが、それらの地層は河川・海岸環境で堆積しており、様々な翼竜・恐竜・その他の動物が産出している。
