Grimpoteuthis hippocrepium

「ジュウモンジダコ」の和名で呼ばれたタコは2種存在する。 Grimpoteuthis hippocrepium (Hoyle, 1904) 窪寺 (2017) などでジュウモンジダコと呼ばれる。Stauroteuthis hippocrepium Hoyle, 1904 として記載され、もう1種と同じ

ではこの種が「ジュウモンジダコ」と呼ばれた。そのためこの科は和名ではジュウモンジダコ科と呼ばれたが、ジュウモンジダコが Grimpoteuthis hippocrepium を指す和名となり、ジュウモンジダコ属は Grimpoteuthis を指す和名となったため、ジュウモンジダコ属やジュウモンジダコが所属しないにも拘わらずジュウモンジダコ科と呼ばれていた。
