香港大学（ホンコンだいがく、英語: University of Hong Kong、公用語表記: 香港大學）は、
香港 · 薄扶林に本部を置く香港の公立大学。1887年創立、1911年大学設置。大学の略称は港大、HKU。

概要
香港島西部にメインキャンパスを有し、新界にも研究所がある。2018年度の在校生は1万7000人、研究生を入れると２万9000人、教職員数5249人であった。2012年現在の学長（中国語: 校長）は張翔教授（Xiang Zhang）。名誉総長は行政長官が務め、行政長官が欠けたときは行政長官代行が名誉総長代行を兼ねる。大学の略称は港大、HKU。
香港最古の大学であり、世界的な大学ランキングでも上位20-40校以内に位置するなど、東アジアの名門校として教育・研究水準ともに高く評価される（後述「大学ランキング」参照）。
著名な卒業生に孫文などがいる。
沿革
1887年に創立された香港医科大学（香港西医書院）を前身とし、1910年当時の香港総督であるフレデリック・ルガードによって総合大学として再編された。
3月16日を創立記念日とする。1911年大学として認可され、1912年に最初の入学式を行った。
当時は医学部、工学部、文学部の3学部のみであった。第二次世界大戦中、日本軍の占領下では閉鎖されていた。
現在は教育、法律、経営管理・経済、理学系、社会科学系など10の学問分野のファカルティ(学部)を持つ大学に発展している。
中国本土からの留学生
香港は中国返還以来大陸との交流が盛んである。2006年に香港大学を卒業した大陸からの留学生の40%が香港で就職している[1]。
