Miðhvolf

Miðhvolf kallast sá hluti gufuhvolfsins, sem tekur við af heiðhvolfi og nær upp að hitahvolfi. Neðri mörk miðhvolfs eru í um 50-80 km hæð, en þar tekur hiti að falla með hæð. Mörk heið- og miðhvolfs kallas heiðhvörf.
