Le coton, (del arabe qutun) es un fibra vegetal que cresce circum le granos del cotoniero (Gossypium), un arbusto del familia Malvaceae. Iste fibra es in general transformate a filo, que es texite pro fabricar texitos. Le coton es le plus importante del fibras natural producite in le mundo. Post le 19ne seculo, illo constitue, gratias al progresso del industrialisation e del agronomia, le prime fibra textile del mundo (proxime al medietate del consumption global de fibras textile).
