1921 թվականին դարձել է Չեխոսլովակիայի կոմունիստական կուսակցության (ՉԿԿ) անդամ։ 1924 թվականին եղել է ՉԿԿ-ի օրգան «Վեչերնի ռուդե պրավո» թերթի խմբագիրը։ 1926—1928 թվականներին սովորել է Լենինյան դպրոցում (Մոսկվա)։ 1929 թվականին դարձել է ՉԿԿ ԿԿ և Քաղբյուրոյի անդամ, 1935 թվականին՝ Կոմինտերնի գործկոմի անդամության թեկնածու, 1935—1938 թվականներին՝ Չեխոսլովակիայի ազգային ժողովի պատգամավոր (ՉԿԿ-ից), 1936—1938 թվականներին՝ ՉԿԿ կենտրոնական օրգան «Ռուդե պրավո»-ի գլխավոր խմբագիր։
1938 թվականին, Մյունխենի համաձայնագրի կնքումից հետո աշխատել է ՉԿԿ արտասահմանյան բյուրոյում, սկզբում՝ Փարիզում, 1940 թվականից՝ Խորհրդային Միությունում։ Մասնակցել է 1944 թվականի Սլովակյան ազգային ապստամբությանը, որի ժամանակ էլ զոհվել է։
Գրել է Չեխոսլովակիայի պատմության, ազգային հարցի վերաբերյալ աշխատություններ։
