Otkriće
Polivinilidenfluorid se prvi put pojavio na tržištu 1961. godine od strane tvrtke Pennwalt Corp. pod imenom Kynar.

Sastojci su fluorovodik i 1,1,1-trikloretan (Metilkloroform).
