A intermodalidade ou transporte intermodal de pasaxeiros é un concepto que implica a utilización de varios modos de transporte no curso dun mesmo desprazamento.
Algúns medios de transporte sempre foron intermodais. Por exemplo, a maioría dos aeroportos importantes teñen instalacións extensas para o estacionamento de automóbiles e teñen boas conexións de ferrocarril ou autobús ás cidades próximas. Así mesmo, os autobuses urbanos xeralmente chegan ás estacións de ferrocarril e paradas de metro é, ás veces, tamén chegan ao aeroporto máis próximo.
Un obxectivo esencial do transporte intermodal de pasaxeiros moderno, polo menos nos países desenvolvidos, é o de reducir a dependencia do automóbil como o medio esencial de uso para o transporte e aumentar máis o transporte público para, entre outras razón, axilizar o tráfico e diminuír a contaminación nas grandes cidades.
