Praslin é a segunda illa en tamaño de Seychelles (38 km²). Está situada a 44 km ao nordeste de Mahé. A súa poboación rolda ao redor das 6.500 persoas e ten dúas distritos administrativos (Baie Sainte Anne e Grand' Anse (Praslin). Os seus asentamentos principais son Baie Ste Anne, Anse Volbert e Grand Anse.

Foi chamada "Isle de Palmes" polo explorador Lazare Picault en 1744. Durante un tempo foi utilizado como agocho polos piratas e os comerciantes árabes. En 1768 foi renombrada como Praslin en honra do diplomático francés César Gabriel de Choiseul, duque de Praslin.
Praslin coñécese como destino turístico, con moitas praias e hoteis. Tamén ten bosques tropicais, con paxaros como o Bulbul de Seychelles e o seu endémico papagaio negro. A fermosa Reserva Natural Val de Mai (Valée de Mai Nature Preserve) patrimonio da humanidade, é coñecida polo "Coco de Mer" ou Coco Dobre e as orquídeas de vainilla. Dise que o xeneral Charles George Gordon de Khartoum (1833-1885) estaba convencido de que o Val de Mai era o "xardín do Eden".
En Praslin atópase o Aeroporto da illa de Praslin. As illas circundantes son Curieuse, La Digue, Cousin, Cousine e Aride. Ten tamén algúns illotes próximos como Round Island (0'193 km²) e Chauve Souris (0.007 km²) ambos con hoteis.
