Un dogma é unha doutrina sostida por unha relixión ou outra organización de autoridade e que non admite réplica, é dicir, é unha crenza individual ou colectiva non suxeita a proba de veracidade, cuxo contido pode ser relixioso, filosófico, social, sexual etc., impulsado por unha utilidade práctica. O ensino dun dogma ou de doutrinas, principios ou crenzas de carácter dogmático coñécese como adoutrinamento.
Na súa orixe o termo podía significar tamén unha norma ou decreto emitido por unha autoridade, ou unha opinión característica dunha escola filosófica. Co crecemento da autoridade da Igrexa, a palabra adquiriu o que agora é o seu significado principal, dogma teolóxico, do que derivan, por analoxía, o resto dos usos habituais. Serían así dogmas non só as chamadas verdades da relixión católica, senón as de calquera outra relixión, ou calquera outra crenza que é proclamada verdade indiscutíbel.
