Uşak on kaupunki ja piirikunta Turkin Länsi-Anatoliassa. Aikanaan se tunnettiin etenkin uşak-matoistaan. Piirikunnan asukasluku vuonna 2020 oli 256 050.
Uşak sijaitsee Turkin Länsi-Anatoliassa. Sen korkeus merenpinnasta on 907 metriä.[1]
Heettiläisten kaudella nykyinen Uşak oli osa heettiläistä valtakuntaa. Sen lähellä sijaitsevat myös antiikin aikaisen Flaviopoliksen rauniot.[1]
Germiyanin turkkilaiset ruhtinaat alistivat nykyisen Uşakin 1300-luvulla. Hallitsija Yakub I:n waqf vuodelta 1321 mainitsee paikalle perustetun uskonnollisen koulun (zawiye) ja edelleen pystyssä olevan moskeijan (Ulu Camii). Sittemmin Uşakista tuli osa Osmanien valtakuntaa. Vuonna 1530 se oli oman hallinnollisen alueensa (kada) keskus ja kaupungissa tuotettiin saippuaa, jolla maksettiin myös veroja. Osmanien valtakaudella tulivat tunnetuksi myös uşak-matot. Evliya Çelebi mainitsee paitsi värikkäät matot, mutta myös kaupungin olevan villakaupan keskus.[1]
1700-luvun lopulla paikallinen derebey Hajj Murad-oghlu kapinoi Osmanivaltiota vastaan ja tuli teloitetuksi. Seuraavan vuosisadan lopulla kaupungin asukasluku oli erään arvion mukaan noin 13 000. Heistä noin kolmasosa oli kreikkalaisia ja armenialaisia. Mattoteollisuus alkoi kasvaa kovaan tahtiin 1870-luvulta lähtien, kun itämaiset matot tulivat suosituiksi Euroopassa ja Yhdysvalloissa. Vuosisadan vaihteessa Uşakin kanssa kilpailivat kuitenkin monet muut kaupungit, joissa työvoima oli halvempaa.[1]
Kreikan–Turkin sodan aikana 1900-luvun alkupuoliskolla kaupungin tuntumassa käytiin kiivaita taisteluja.[2] Kreikkalaisten ylipäällikkö Nikólaos Trikoúpis jäi turkkilaisten vangiksi Uşakissa 2. syyskuuta 1922.[1]
Uşakin piirikunnan asukasluku oli Turkin tilastokeskuksen mukaan vuonna 2020 256 050. Heistä 228 881 asui itse kaupungissa ja 27 169 kylissä.[3]
