ائوس (به یونانی: Ηως, Êôs) در اساطیر یونانی، تجسم شخصیت سپیدهدم، که هر روز صبح از خانهٔ خود در لبهٔ رودهای اوکئانوس در آسمان طلوع میکرد و با اشعهٔ نور خود تاریکی را از شب پاک مینمود. ائوس فرزند هیپریون و تئا، و خواهر کوچکتر هلیوس (خورشید) و سلنه (ماه) بود. او با آورورا در اساطیر روم باستان قابل قیاس است و رابطهٔ نزدیکی با الههٔ بسیار کهن روز یونانی، همیرا داشت. ائوس همچنین به عنوان یکی از تیتانهای نسل دوم به شمار میرفت. او را برخی مواقع سوار بر ارابهای زرین که توسط اسبهای بالدار حرکت میکرد، به تصویر کشیده میشد و در زمانهای دیگر او را به همراه یک جفت بال در هوا نشان میدادند.
از آسترائوس صاحب چهار فرزند باد به نامهای: بورئاس، ایروس، زفیروس و نوتوس شد. افسانههایی که ائوس در آنها نقش داشت، تقریباً بهطور کامل شامل توطئههای عشقی او میشد. او نخست با آرس ایزد جنگ همخواب شد، که این مسئله خشم آفرودیته را در بر داشت و برای مجازات او را تبدیل به یک هایپرسکشوال کرد. معشوقههای دیگر او شامل شکارچی، فایتون، کفالوس و تیتون بودند، که سه تن از آنها به سرزمینهای دور دست رانده شدند.[1][2]
در تئوگونی دربارهٔ اش اینطور نوشته شدهاست: «و سپس اریجنیا ستاره اوزفورس را به دنیا آورد و نیز ستارگان درخشان را که بهشت و آسمان با آنها تاجگذاری شد» و همینطور در اودیسه دربارهٔ اش آمده است: «روشن ترین تمام ستارگان که اغلب نور زودترین سپیده دم از آن اوست»
