Bändi solistid olid algul koomikud John Belushi ("Joliet" Jake Blues) ja Dan Aykroyd (Elwood Blues), kuid pärast John Belushi surma 1982. aastal esineb bänd külalisesinejate najal.

Ansamblist on tehtud kaks muusikalist komöödiafilmi: "Bluusivennad" (1980) ja "Bluusivennad 2000" (1998).
