Agrigento on linnaks nimetatav omavalitsusüksus (comune) Itaalias Sitsiilia maakonnas, samanimelise provintsi keskus.

Agrigento asutamisajaks peetakse aastat 580 eKr ning see oli Magna Graecia üks olulisemaid linnu. Agrigento on Empedoklese ja Pirandello sünnilinn.
Agrigento kõrgus merepinnast on 230 meetrit, asustustihedus keskmiselt 237 inimest ruutkilomeetri kohta.
Agrigento piirneb järgmiste omavalitsusüksustega: Aragona, Cattolica Eraclea, Favara, Joppolo Giancaxio, Montallegro, Naro, Palma di Montechiaro, Porto Empedocle, Raffadali, Realmonte, Sant'Angelo Muxaro, Siculiana.
Agrigento halduspiirides asuvad järgmised fraktsioonid: Favara, Fiumenaro, Giardina Gallotti, Montaperto, San Leone Mosè, San Michele, Villaseta.
Strateegiliselt tähtsal mäeahelikul asuva Agrigento territooriumil voolavad Sant’Anna ja Akragase jõed, edelapiiriks on Vahemere rannik.
Kolmekümne aasta (1961–1990) vaatluste andmetel on kõige jahedam kuu jaanuar (keskmine temperatuur +11,00 °C) ja kõige soojem kuu august (keskmine temperatuur +28,5 °C).
Linnal on selle pika ajaloo jooksul olnud neli nime: Ἀκράγας (Akragas) kreeklastele, Agrigentum roomlastele, Kerkent või Gergent araablastele; normannidele Girgenti. Kuni 1929. aastani oli linnal sama nimi, mis rooma ajalgi, Agrigentum. Praeguse nime, Agrigento, sai linn 1927. aasta 16. juuni kuningliku dekreediga.[4]
Agrigento polise asutajateks olid Gelast pärit kreeka kolonistid, kes andsid asulale nimeks Akragas.
Akragas kasvas kiiresti ja muutus peagi üheks rikkamaks ja kuulsamaks Kreeka kolooniaks Magna Graecias. 6.–5. sajandil eKr oli linn türannide Phalarise ja Theroni võimu all. Pärast Theroni poja Thrasydaeuse kukutamist kehtestati Akragases demokraatia. Demokraatlik valitsemiskord kukutati pärast kartaagolaste rüüstet aastal 406 eKr.
Esimese Puunia sõja ajal võitlesid linna pärast roomlased ja kartaagolased. 262. aastal eKr piirasid roomlased linna sisse ning vallutasid selle pärast kartaagolaste abijõudude purustamist 261. aastal eKr. Linna elanikkond müüdi orjusesse. Teise Puunia sõja ajal (218–201 eKr) võitlesid Rooma ja Kartaago linna pärast taas. Roomlased vallutasid linna 210. aastal eKr ja andsid sellele nimeks Agrigentum. 205. aastal eKr vallutasid kartaagolased linna küll tagasi, kuid rahulepinguga jäi linn Rooma valdusse. Linna elanikud said Rooma kodakondsuse pärast Julius Caesari surma 44. aastal eKr.
Normannid, Roger I juhtimisel, vallutasid linna 1087. aastal. II maailmasõja ajal sai linn kannatada läbi mitmete pommirünnakute.
Kreeka linnast jäänud varemete kohta loe kirjutisest Templite org (Valle dei Tempi), milles kirjutatakse 1997. aastal UNESCO maailmapärandi nimistusse kantud arheoloogiapargist.[5]
Agrigentos asub Palermo ülikooli haru. 2008/2009 õppeaastal omandas selle 6 teaduskonnas teadmisi 3613 üliõpilast.
