La discografía de Roy Orbison (23 de abril de 1936 - 6 de diciembre de 1988) consta de 23 álbumes de estudio, cuatro álbumes en directo, más de una veintena de recopilatorios y cerca de un centenar de sencillos. Orbison obtuvo su mayor éxito musical entre finales de la década de 1950 y comienzos de la siguiente, con un breve repunte comercial como miembro del grupo Traveling Wilburys al final de su vida. En lo alto de su popularidad, Orbison consiguió situar 22 sencillos en el top 40 de la lista Billboard Hot 100, dos de ellos números uno y siete top 10. En el Reino Unido, Orbison también obtuvo diez top 10 entre 1960 y 1966, incluyendo tres números uno.

Nacido en Texas, Orbison comenzó su carrera musical en una banda de rockabilly durante su adolescencia. Su carrera profesional comenzó de la mano de Sam Phillips en Sun Records, aunque sin alcanzar un notable éxito.[1] Tras varios años dedicado a componer para otros artistas, Orbison y sus frecuentes compañeros de composición, Joe Melson y Bill Dees, adaptaron muchas de las canciones de Orbison a su voz, siendo las más conocidas sus baladas dramáticas con crescendos que mostraban sus dotes vocales. Tras obtener su mayor éxito en 1964 con «Oh, Pretty Woman», Orbison siguió grabando, pero no fue hasta 1987 cuando volvió a obtener éxito cuando el sencillo «In Dreams» fue usado en el largometraje de David Lynch Blue Velvet. Un año después, Orbison formó parte del grupo Traveling Wilburys junto a Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne y George Harrison.[2] Lynne produjo el último trabajo de Orbison, Mystery Girl, que fue publicado de forma póstuma en febrero de 1989.
