Veterná Poruba situas laŭ traira flankovojo. Liptovský Mikuláš troviĝas je 4 km.
La unua mencio okazis pri la vilaĝo en 1353. Post 1902 la oficiala hungara loknomo iĝis Szelesortovány pro la hungariga politiko, kie en 1910 laŭ la popolnombrado vivis 354 homoj, (plejparte slovakoj). Ĝis Traktato de Trianon la komunumo apartenis al Hungara reĝlando, al Liptó, al distrikto de Liptovský Mikuláš, poste al Ĉeĥoslovaka respubliko, dum la 2-a mondmilito kaj ekde 1993 al Slovakio. En 2001 vivis en Veterná Poruba 344 homoj, (escepte unun ĉiuj slovakoj).
