The village lies on the shore of the Sandsfjorden at the mouth of the river Suldalslågen, just south of the mouth of the Hylsfjorden. The 1.03-square-kilometre (250-acre) village has a population (2019) of 1,173 and a population density of 1,139 inhabitants per square kilometre (2,950/sq mi).
