The Fifth Settlement forms a qism in the New Cairo satellite city, in the Eastern Area of Cairo, Egypt. The Fifth Settlement was originally one of five standalone human settlements built by the New Urban Communities Authority in the 1980s in the desert east of the Cairo Ring Road to absorb the working class population growth. In the year 2000, the Fifth Settlement, along with the nearby First and Third Settlements, were incorporated as New Cairo. According to the 2017 census, it had 135,834 residents,: while the latest estimate puts it at 145,286 residents in 2023.
