Etymology

The prefix counterpart to the preposition ré (“before”).

Prefix

rem- (pretonic remi-)

1. pre-, fore-, before

   ‎rem- + ‎téit (“to go”) → ‎remi·tét (“to go before, precede”)

   ‎rem- + ‎as·beir (“to say”) → ‎remi·epir (“to say, mention beforehand”)

   ‎rem- + ‎suidigud (“position”) → ‎remsuidigud (“preposition”)
