Inherited from Malay firus (“turquoise”), from Persian فیروزه (firuze, “turquoise”), پیروزه (piruze), from Middle Persian *pērōzag, from 𐭯𐭩𐭫𐭥𐭰 (pērōz, “victorious”).^[1]
