Calque of Chinese 國家 / 国家 (quốc gia, literally “country and house(hold)”), from nhà (“house; household”) +‎ nước (“water; country”).

     Nhà nước là sản phẩm và biểu hiện của những mâu thuẫn giai cấp không thể điều hòa được. Bất cứ ở đâu, hễ lúc nào và chừng nào mà, về mặt khách quan, những mâu thuẫn giai cấp không thể điều hòa được, thì nhà nước xuất hiện. Và ngược lại, sự tồn tại của nhà nước chứng tỏ rằng những mâu thuẫn giái cấp là không thể điều hòa được.

     The state is a product and a manifestation of the irreconcilability of class antagonisms. The state arises where, when and insofar as class antagonism objectively cannot be reconciled. And, conversely, the existence of the state proves that the class antagonisms are irreconcilable.
