- (US, historical) Of an African-American: To leave a Southern state as part of a mass migration, especially the Exodus of 1879.
Usage notes
This verb is very rarely found in the forms exodust or exodusts. The participles exodusted and exodusting occur frequently in late 19th-century texts on this topic.
