Originally an old dual feminine form, from an older *duwi, from *duwu, from Proto-Baltic and Proto-Balto-Slavic *duwō, from Proto-Indo-European *dwóh₁, *dwóu (“two (masc.)”), *dwéi, *dwái (“two (fem., neut.)”).
