     The Government is the highest state administrative body of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, shall exercise executive power, and is the executive body of the National Assembly.
     The Government is responsible to the National Assembly and shall report on its work to the National Assembly, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly and the President.

Usage notes

• Either chính phủ or chính quyền can be used to translate English "government" when referring to foreign countries' governments (whether national or local); when referring to Vietnamese administrative bodies, chính quyền is officially translated into English as "administration" yet chính phủ as "government".
• English head of government almost always translates to Vietnamese người đứng đầu chính phủ; the translation người đứng đầu chính quyền is attested very rarely, e.g. in a 2018 article by Cù Huy Hà Vũ.^[1]
