Noun
autogynephilia (uncountable)
- In Ray Blanchard's transsexualism typology, the proposed paraphilic tendency of someone who is anatomically male to be sexually aroused by the thought of being a female, sometimes framed as a form of gender identity disorder or transvestic fetishism.
- Coordinate term: autoandrophilia
- Charles Moser (2010) “Blanchard’s Autogynephilia Theory: A Critique”, in Journal of Homosexuality, volume 57, number 6, →DOI, pages 790–809: “If autogynephilia were a paraphilia, we would expect that MTFs would want estrogens to feminize themselves, but decline anti-androgens or report that they disliked the effect. This is contrary to the observation that MTFs request and like the effects of anti-androgens.”
