Etymology
From goose + village (“neighbourhood”). From the geese that once nested on the riverside next to Victoriatown, where geese hunting once was permitted.

- (historical, informal) A neighbourhood of Quebec. A former area in Montreal, that has since been demolished to make way for an industrial area, freeway, World's Fair and Olympics infrastructure. Located street-south of the neighbourhood of Grffintown, south of the Lachine Canal, west of Old Montreal, north of the Victoria Bridge.
