Borrowed from Russian безпоповцы (bezpopovcy) (pre-1917 spelling; modern spelling is беспоповцы (bespopovcy)). From без- (bez-) + поп (pop, “priest”) + -ов- (-ov-) + -цы (-cy) (plural of -ец (-ec)).
