Etymology
From Afghan (“A person of Pashtun ethnicity”) + -ia (“land”). Coined by Choudhary Rahmat Ali who published it in the pamphlet Now or Never issued on January 28, 1933 as the "a" in Pakistan (then Pakstan). Compare Latin Afgania.
