Phrase consisting of だ (da, “is, are”, copula) + が (ga, nominative particle, also used contrastively after verbs).[1][2]
が is also used after verbs in this same way to indicate “the previous statement is the case, but...”
Used to start a sentence. Generally followed by a comma.
