- A generic mark for footnotes and references. Equivalent to the symbols *, †, §, etc., and to superscripting numbers and letters.
- Specifically, the asterisk *, as opposed to ⠢⠢ for the dagger †, etc.
Usage notes
- A space appears before this mark, and after anything that follows it except the number or letter of the note. For example, footnote "b" would be marked " ⠔⠔⠃ (text)".
- This mark was abolished in Unified English Braille.
