Inherited from Prakrit तुरंत (turaṃta), from Sanskrit तुरन्त् (turant, “hurrying, hastening”, present participle of त्वर् (tvar, root)) (compare त्वरन्त् (tvarant)).

- It happened that the son of a policeman was kidnapped in broad daylight. The matter was about an employee of their own department, so the police immediately got into action.
