Inherited from Proto-Turkic *sid-tük (“urine”), a development from *sīd- (“to urinate”), whence سیمك (simek, “to urinate”). Cognate with Azerbaijani sidik, Bashkir һейҙек (heyźek), Karakhanid سِذُكْ (siδük), Kazakh сідік (sıdık), Kyrgyz сийдик (siydik), Turkmen sidik, Uyghur سىيدىك (siydik) and Uzbek siydik.
