1. to buy, to purchase

   קניתי אתמול פיצה ― kanití etmól pítsa ― Yesterday I bought pizza.

Akin to Ancient Greek κάννα (kánna) (from Akkadian 𒂵𒉡𒌑𒌝 (qanûm, “reed”), see further etymology there) with similar meaning. Compare with English cane, canon, cannon, canal, and channel.
