Etymology

From Proto-Turkic *sïč- (“to defecate”).

Note the peculiar development of the initial consonant. It is paralleled in Kumyk чычмакъ (çıçmaq, “to defecate”), Kyrgyz чыч- (cıc-, “to defecate”), Southern Altai чыч- (čïč-, “to defecate”), Turkish sıçmak (“to defecate”).
