From *yašurun (“hidden, concealed, secret”), an instrumental case form[1] from an earlier *yašuru (“hidden, concealed”) (as testified in Old Uyghur [script needed] (jašru), [script needed] (jašuru, “hidden, secret, concealed”),[2] from *yašïr- (“to hide sth.”), from Proto-Turkic *yaĺ- (“to hide”).
Cognate with Kazakh жасырын (jasyryn), Uzbek yashirin, Uyghur يوشۇرۇن (yoshurun), Turkmen ýaşyryn (“hidden, concealed, secret”).
