Ο ο – English: omicron |
From Koine Greek ὂ μικρόν (“small O”), in contrast to ὠμέγα (“big O, omega”). It took its name from the round shape of the Phoenician letter 𐤏 ayin, not from its name (like other letters: e.g. άλφα (álfa) / ἄλφα from aleph, βήτα (víta) / βῆτα (bêta) from beth, etc.)
