Vijay Kanakamedala is an Indian film director and screenwriter who works primarily in Telugu cinema. He made his directorial debut with the film Naandhi,[1][2][3][4] which became commercial success, grossing over ₹9.5 crore at the box office.[5]

Vijay hailing from Bhadrachalam, completed his B.Sc. in Computer Science. He then pursued film studies at a Film Institute Hyderabad and worked as an assistant to the director K. Balachander. Later he worked as a assistant director for Harish Shankar in the films Mirapakay, Gabbar Singh and DJ: Duvvada Jagannadham.[6]
In 2021, Vijay made his directorial debut with Naandhi, starring Allari Naresh and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar.[7] The Hindu described "Naandhi marks as a confident directorial debut for Vijay Kanakamedala",[8] following the critical acclaim and box office success of Naandhi, Vijay collaborated once again with Allari Naresh for the film Ugram,[9][10][11] released in 2023 and received mixed reviews where Film Companion said that "Vijay Kanakamedala is a loud and angry filmmaker."[12]
His upcoming multi-starrer film titled Bhairavam featuring Bellamkonda Sreenivas, Nara Rohith, Manchu Manoj and Aditi Shankar is currently in production.[13][14]
